A bit about the role

The Head of Engineering will lead the engineering department, ensuring the efficient operation and continuous improvement of the robotic and semi-automated production lines. The role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in engineering management, robotics, and automation. The Head of Engineering will drive asset availability, innovation, quality, and continuous improvement across all engineering activities.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, you’ll have responsibility for

  • Leading and mentoring the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, establishing engineering best practices
  • Developing and implementing engineering strategies aligned with company goals, using industry advancements in robotics and automation to inform direction.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Manage engineering projects from conception to completion, with on time, on budget delivery
  • Overseeing production line management and maintenance processes to optimise the availability of robotic and semi-automated production lines, enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-efficiencies through effective root cause analysis
  • Collaborating with production managers and other departments to address and resolve technical issues and ensure seamless project execution
  • Driving the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to improve production capabilities, implementing quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of production.
  • Applying Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies to drive continuous improvement

What you’ll have
  • Degree level education (preferably Master’s) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline)
  • A minimum of 10 years of increasingly senior engineering management experience in a relevant sector (automotive, aerospace, electronics)
  • Expertise in automated production technologies, including robotics, CNC machinery, and digital manufacturing systems
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with proficiency in Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Demonstrable knowledge in Total Productive Maintenance techniques and practices
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, fostering collaboration across departments
  • Expertise in CNC machinery, robotics, and digital workflows to optimise manufacturing efficiencies
  • Strong background in process optimisation, waste reduction, and continuous improvement strategies with demonstrable experience in Design for Six Sigma

Key competencies

You’ll be great at managing teams, coaching, and mentoring your team to optimise performance, culture, and attitude. You’re comfortable in assessing, developing, and implementing change management. An excellent communicator, you’ll build robust stakeholder, inter departmental and supplier relationships. A financially astute leader, you will manage your departments costs and budgets, while be comfortable in using systems and software to make data driven decisions.

Ideally, you’ll have

  • Industry experience in construction, automotive, aerospace, electronics, or relevant sectors
  • Demonstrable experience in timber frame manufacturing
  • Advanced skills in CAD and BIM tools
  • Understanding of DFM principles to enhance product manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Knowledge of offsite construction methods and modern methods of construction (MMC), industry regulations and all statutory HSE requirements
  • Knowledge of sustainability and waste reduction principles
  • Demonstrable knowledge of value engineering techniques

A bit about the role

As a Maintenance Engineer for our backshift, you’ll be an important member of the manufacturing team, responsible for meeting or exceeding production targets while ensuring our automated systems remain fully maintained and operational.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll be working in a fast paced environment, where you’ll take responsibility for our planned preventative maintenance programme, ensuring all machinery and equipment meets optimised performance while meeting health & safety requirements and relevant legislation.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring all plant and buildings within the factory are maintained through a PPM programme, able to meet production targets while maintaining a safety focused culture.

You’ll be responsible for managing the use of approved maintenance contractors where required, ensuring works are undertaken to the highest compliance standards, minimising business impact.

You’ll ensure that automated systems are fully operational with minimal downtime, resolving any issues as they arise, quickly to minimise impact on customers timelines.

You’ll implement and maintain the PPM for using our CMMS system (FIIX).

You’ll be competent in contributing to the introduction of new products and manufacturing techniques (CIP/5S) with the introduction of new process equipment and modification of existing and plant/equipment

You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Electrician or Maintenance Fitter in a production related maintenance role with some exposure to PLC fault diagnosis. IPAF MEWP Licence (Type 3A & 3B).

You have recognised qualifications in a relevant core trade with the ability to maintain and repair both simple and complex machinery, ideally within an automated process manufacturing environment.

You’ll be comfortable taking decisions and recommending solutions based on data. You have a good working knowledge of PUWER/LOLER/COSHH and other relevant Health & Safety regulations.

Our Manufacturing Administrator is a key part of the team, responsible for the operation of our business.

Reporting to the Office Supervisor, in implementing processes that support successful delivery of orders, order processing, collation and provision or reports to support streamlined operations, loading CDT files on our automated manufacturing lines.

You’ll also manage information sharing, team holiday and absence data and drawings related to manufacture while ensuring objectives are met to meet business needs.

As a Production Supervisor, you’ll be an important member of the team, responsible for meeting or exceeding production targets while ensuring our systems remain fully maintained and operational.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll be working in a fast-paced environment, where you’ll take responsibility for meeting and exceeding safety, quality and productivity targets.

You’ll have a good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental best practice and regulation within manufacturing with an ability to monitor performance data, identify areas for improvement and efficiency.

You’ll be responsible for the day to day operations, ensuring we meet productivity, financial and quality standards targets. You’ll ensure we remain fully operational with little downtime, resolving any issues as they arise, quickly to minimise impact on customers timelines.
